Stationary Sun (Demon Slayer)

An oddly familiar station set upon a barren planet seems to be under some sort of invasion. These horrific creatures seem to not have arrived through the means of spacecraft, but rather from within the station itself. As a soldier storms through the facility trying to rid the station of this infestation he finds that these creatures have indeed been manipulated and experimented on using human technology. What are the origins to this odd pattern?
