About the Artist
My name is Dale Griffith, I am an independent artist based in Connecticut that practices in traditional and digital painting. I am an aspiring sci-fi concept artist with a Bachelors degree in illustration graduating from SVA in 2021. The artwork hosted on this website centers around originally designed digital artwork all hand painted by myself. My artwork generally involves themes of science fiction, fantasy, and historical inspirations. The goal of this website is to not only support myself through my art, but to host a thematic collection of my official pieces and share my own written insight on my process. I am heavily inspired by the media I grew up with and attempt to reflect only the strongest elements to create new stories and designs reflected through my artwork. Some of my pieces have had hundreds of hours spent into each tiny detail using digital brush strokes through a touch pen and tablet. Although the process can sometimes be extensive, I feel the intent of nearly every pixel in my artwork must specifically compliment the overall piece. This extensive detail and commitment can be seen in any of my process videos which I will record for any major art project to not only keep a tab on my authenticity, but to hopefully share the footage through educated or interesting breakdowns. With the rise of A.I. and its use in artwork I refrain from using any sort of generative elements with my art mainly because I do not trust the technologies design choices above my own. Painting and drawing is my life's passion and I have been obsessively creating artwork as far back as 3 years old. I do not have harsh opinions towards the technology and its practical uses, however I feel that being an artist for so long I have developed a unique style and have built very specific methods for designing and choosing the elements within my artwork. Ultimately I have a high amount of trust and pride in my own abilities to the point that I feel the time commitment is overall worth the end product. I create artwork not just as an artist or a professional looking to fill a skill, but as an inspired fan looking to enjoy the depth of my own artwork as my inspirations did for me.
